CALIFORNIA, Mo. — The California R-1 School District announced Zach Thomas as the next head coach of the Pinto football program.

Thomas will take over for Kenny Grubb, who accepted the same position at Fayette High School.

Most recently, Thomas served as the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Smith-Cotton High School. Prior to his time in Sedalia, he was an assistant coach at Lafayette County C-1 High School in Higginsville and at his alma mater, Sweet Springs.

Thomas and the Pintos will open the season on the road at Logan-Rogersville on Aug. 28.
